Fireworks MX Tutorial
Step 1: Open up (2)
different images that you wish to blend for this
exercise I chose the images below: (You can save
these images to your hard drive by right-clicking
on them and choosing the Save As option)
|
|
|
With the pointer tool,
drag the image on the right hand side over into the
left image window. |
|
|
Step 2 - Add a bitmap mask using
the icon located at the bottom of the layer palette
or by going to Modify - Mask - Reveal All, located
on the menu bar.In the properties window you should
see the grayscale options selected.
|
|
Note:For Fireworks 4 users, check
the Greyscale Appearance in the Object Panel. Also
there is no gradient tool, use you Paint bucket tool,
and set your linear fill to White, Black in your
Fill panel. |
|
|
Step 3: Select the gradient tool
,
(located with the paint bucket tool). In the properties
window, Linear Fill should be selected, Black, White
fill colors, Edge: Hard.
Drag your mouse across the width in the center of
the image from left to right, this applies the gradient
fill to your mask. Export and save as a .jpg!

Here is the
finished blended image:
|
This is just one way
to blend images, quick and simple. Note:
You may need to work with your gradient and images
to get just the right look. Also try different
opacity levels and blend modes. I found having
the same size height in my two images helped.
Here is another example with a white transparent
rectangle, texture Line-Horiz 1 100%, applied over
the image, layer opacity 50:

I hope you find this tutorial helpful!
